The gap doesn't matter in the course. You just need to fulfill the minimum eligibilty criteria and you will get admission.
You should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination in the relevant discipline to become eligible to get admission in the course. Admission is given on the basis of the merit in the qualifying examination. The merit list of the shortlisted candidates is released by the college.
