Both IIT and NIT are the most competitive exams because they make the admissions into the most reputed colleges and universities. 

The minimum rank required by a student of your category in NIT  bhopal is less than 5000.

With your rank, it might not be possible for you to get into the NIT colleges through home quota also. But  you can certainly try for the second counselling where you might get the colleges.
