In response to your question if you're planning to do a specialisation or a master's degree in chemical engineering that would surely be possible and further you could supplement it with a PhD. Although the content vastness of chemistry through engineering sciences and basic sciences is quite different hence the if you switch later on you would need to grasp a lot of concepts in short period of time, hence it's advisable to look through the course work of chemical engineering to assess about your preparation and efforts.
