The placement for Mining in VNIT college has a good record. Coal India is a being a major recruiter with good package. The most popular Core companies like Vedanta recruits students from that college. L&T visits the college often for recruitment. Approx package is around 5 lakhs per annum. Also, PSUs such as SAIL, NTPC, NLC are recruiting through GATE. Though their vacancies are few. So getting a core job is totally uncertain and unreliable. Even in IITs, the ratio this year was too less. Although there are other noncore companies (IT, Management, Trading, etc) and you can secure a job there if you have required skills and experience in form of some internships. This being open for many branches , you will have to prove your excellence amongst them.
