It is possible to get the admission into Mtech in IIT/nit without gate.

There were

• sponsered seats at IIT/nit

If you want to get the seat in these category your chpa should be high and you should also face a interview where the questions will be at gate level.

• Some IIITs like IIIT Hyderabad,IIIT Delhi,IIT Bhubaneswar conduct their oen entrance tests for Mtech.
• Some central universities also conduct their own entrance tests.

Admission to M.Tech Without GATE

Following are the options to take admission in M.Tech without GATE:

1. Sponsored Seats at IISc, IITs and NITs:

IISc, IITs and NITs offer regular M.Tech seats to candidates who have been sponsored by their employers. These candidates don’t need to appear for the GATE entrance exam for admission in M.Tech programmes.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Candidates must have completed B.Tech or B.E. with the minimum qualifying marks (vary from institute to institute).
• Candidates applying for M.Tech through sponsored seats must have worked for more than 2 years.
• Candidates should have been granted a 2-year study leave by their employers.
• The employer must take the responsibility to provide financial support for the candidate throughout the 2-year course.
• Some of the IITs and NITs may also conduct their own written test for admission to M.Tech programmes through sponsored seats.

2. M.Tech Entrance Exams for IIITs:

Some of the IIITs conduct their own entrance exams for admission in the M.Tech programme. If you want to cut down the competition and want better chances of selection as compared to admission through GATE, you can appear for these M.Tech entrance tests conducted by IIITs.

3. Admission to Central and State Universities:

There are various central and state universities that admit students on the basis of GATE as well as their separate entrance exams. You will find that some of the central, as well as state universities, reserve some M.Tech seats for admission through GATE and the remaining seats are filled on the basis of their own M.Tech entrance exams.

However, there are some universities that conduct admission only on the basis of their own M.Tech entrance test. Following are some universities where you can apply without GATE score by taking their exams:

• AMU
• UNIVERSITY OF HYDERABAD
• Jnu
• JMI
• UNIVERSITY OF PONDICHERRY

4. Admission to Private Universities and Private Deemed Universities:

If you are okay with spending some extra money on your education, you can also apply for private universities or private deemed universities. Admissions are done either on the basis of marks secured in graduation or on the basis of entrance exams conducted by the respective university.

As per your question,If you are a student of central funded university having CGPA >8..no need of GATE score for you. You can avail direct interview for M.Tech in IITs.

If you are among top 10 students at university level..no need for GATE score.





If you do have teaching(or any other in the field) experience of 2 years after B.Tech ,then also no need for GATE score even for M.Tech/PhD/MS(research)programs in IITs.

If you are a sponsored candidate no need of GATE score for you.
