IIEST shibpur is moderately good college with average infrastructure,good research supports and ok-ok placements.
however when the comparison btw NITs and IIEST takes place then it should be clear that every NIT differ from each other in great manners.
If you talk about top NITs like Trichy,Surathkal,Warangal,mnit allahabad etc then offcourse IIEST lies in the bottom of list but when it comes with the average NITs like Manipur, Meghalaya,Srinagar,Raipur etc then IIEST is far better than these NITs.

So the comparison totally depends on the NIT you select and it varies from NIT to NIT.
