It is pretty chill tbh. There's so much to explore, so many people to meet and the campus is always a happening place. You will never be bored here.

Academically, they have almost everything except veterinary sciences. The cool thing is, if you are interested in another stream unrelated to your background, you can actually learn them as well. The labs and research centers have the latest equipments, my favorite place would be the Fablab and Innovation and Incubation Centre ( both are open 24 hours). Infrastructure is not that bad except for a couple of old buildings (trust me, I've seen worse in other universities)

The campus is clean and green and actually perfect for photoshoots. Student clubs are highly active, from tech stuff to literary, there's something for everyone. As I mentioned, it's a very happening campus.

There's different fests that take place throughout the year, but the ones everyone is excited about is Jhalak, Aaruush, Panacea, Bazaar and of course, the one and only Milan. Removing the peer factor, one of best places for creating amazing college memories.

The only problem I faced was being from North India, language barriers to navigate through the shops around the campus, however you'll be fine in a couple of weeks as you can get the job done with English and gestures. Inside the campus it's not a big deal as everyone knows English and you'd find a huge crowd from north India as well, and you'll adjust pretty quickly. Cannot vouch for the weather though, it is very humid.

Overall, it's a good experience, Academically or not. The faculties are nice and helpful, the exam pattern isn't stressful but helps to prepare for the semester end, the campus has positivity and its buzzing with excitement round the year, and you have so much fun and freedom, it's all upto how you can make the best of it.

Dear Aspirants,

Now a long, justified answer, for those having a doubt over my opinion.

I am a student of final year, currently pursuing B.Tech from this University. I will trace back my journey from final year, and then leave it up to decide.

Back during the joining and counselling time, when I came to Chennai for the first time, I was awestruck by the huge buildings of the campus. I am from a small town, and all these attracted me very quickly. During the counselling, we were made to run from one building of the campus to another building. I was wondering why didnt they put up the whole admission shit at one place. Poor management has been the colleges forte from a long time I guess. Anyway, this was my first days experience of the college. The hostel life was no good. There were some lame rules regarding the wifi, like, it would start functioning only after 6p.m., and only upto 7a.m. I was like WHAT???!!!who does that, they were charging us nearly one lacs for our hostel, and couldnt even provide wifi for 24 hours. Like this was not enough, all the social networking apps were banned (WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Hike, Viber (Calling App). Still, we managed to use VPNs to access the apps, but the speed was so shitty, that even 1G (had it ever existed) would have worked better than the wifi. Mess food should not even be discussed I guess; we all know what shit they provide at the mess, at every hostel in the country.

Coming to academics. The college had one of the shittiest rules anyone might have had ever heard-collared t-shirts/shirts, jeans and shoes are mandatory. One question to the low standard management of the college, WHY? What makes you think that this will bring discipline to the college? One advice, increase the education quality, dont make some futile rules, nobody respects you all anyway.

The faculties are a lot more degraded. They study from this college, and then teach in this college. This tells you how uneducated they are. We were provided books by college for the first 2 years. Most of the boosk were written and published by the faculties of the college itself. Now imagine-studying from SRM, teaching in SRM, then providing the books to the students written by the teachers of SRM. A nursery grade kid could write a better English than these people, kudos to the education of these faculties (or as they would like to call themselves, PROFESSORS). The evaluation system was horrible during our time. This is the break-up of the internal marks

Cycle Tests (CT) 1 - 10 marks

CT 2 - 10 marks

Model Exam - 20 marks

Surprise Test (Which we knew about a week before, always) - 5 marks

Attendance (Yes, trust me!!!) - 5 marks

Aaaaand then we had our end sem exam, which had a weight age of 50 marks.

So basically, all we had done during our 4 years, is given exams, every damn month.
