According to the previous year, the cutoff score for general category is 81 marks. JEE Main Paper I consists of 3 sections- Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Therefore, it means that you will have to secure 27 marks in each section to qualify for JEE advanced. Since each question is worth 4 marks, it is essential for you to get 7 questions correct in each section. So, in total, if you belong to the general category, you will have to answer 7 questions in each section correctly which means overall 21 questions have to be correctly answered in the entire JEE Main paper I.
You should remember that there is negative marking for each wrong answer so just answer those questions which you are in confident in. Since each section consists of 30 questions, you can concentrate on some particular topics which are likely to be asked in the examination. Concentrating on such topics will present you more chances to secure correct responses for 7 questions each in the 3 sections. This will enable you to secure the perfect required score to advance ahead for JEE advanced examination.
