Hi Greetings
From this year onwards Instead of CBSE the national testing agency will be organising JEE main exam but National testing agency has not made any notice regarding the number of attempts a student can JEE main exam but if you go according to the previous rules made by CBSE then a student can appear for three times in JEE main that three times in a consecutive years starting from class 12th and for JEE advanced a student can appear for 2 X starting from class 12th in a consecutive years.therefore if you consider the same rule which was made by CBSE then you have Total 3 attempt then one attempts will be counted for 1 year that is if you appear for both the session of JEE main that is April and January then this will Altogether will counted as a one attempt.

Hope this helps all the best
Hello.
This year alone, a student can write the Jee exam twice. Once in January and once in April. The age limit for the candidates who can write the exam has been removed. According to their eligibility criteria, any candidates who have passed class 12 from 2017 onwards are eligible for this year's exam. So you can attempt the Jee mains 6 times before losing eligibility.
Hope this helps!
