It does so by the VITEEE exam that it conducts which has Aptitude, English, Physics, Chemistry and Maths/Biology as its subjects. The following exam has 40 questions in Maths/Biology, 35 qns in Physics, 35 ans in Chemistry, 10 questions in Aptitude and 5 questions in English. There is no negative marking and the duration for the exam is 2 and a half hours. So as per the scores here, students are distributed.
