You should focus on important topics, solve as much as MCQs for your practice. You can make your study plan and follow it. You should work on your concepts. Give proper time for revision.

As you must be knowing that GATE is a postgraduate  entrance exam conducted for 23 disciplines of engineering.

Firstly, it is important for you to decide for which discipline are you appearing in GATE 2018.

Now follow the steps given below:

• Figure out the syllabus of GATE as prescribed by IIT Guwahati for the discipline you have chosen

• After knowing the syllabus, look out for the topics you know, revise them thoroughly

• Try and make notes; otherwise take guidance from reference books

• Solve as many previous years' question papers of GATE as you can

• Work on your weak areas; practice them till you feel satisfied with your performance

• Appear in GATE exam with all the confidence in you.
