You have to cover all chapters of PCM of JEE MAINS syllabus as generally questions comes from all chapters of PCM.And it is not easy job to cover all topic within 3-6 months as syllabus of JEE MAINS is huge and it needs 10-12 months to cover all syllabus if you remains consistent and devoted  within this time frame.You need to target 230+ score out of 300 to get rank under 1k in general category..

Foremost thing is that you must be dedicating and consistent.Start analyzing the syllabus and prepare a day-to-day timetable.Follow the timetable strictly.Start studying the subjects which are most important and you think they are difficult for you.Start studying such hard chapters earlier.Prepare short notes which will help you at the time of revision.After studying a topic solve problems based on them.You can refer standard materials and textbooks.By doing this you will know how to solve problems.Revise the topics at the end of the completion of each topic.Remember the formulas.Solve previous years question papers after the completion of preparation it will help you to gain confidence.Solve as many problems as you can as it will help you to improve your accuracy and speed.Give mock tests before 1 month.Clear your doubts with the help of friends or your lecturers.Track your perfomance and rectify your mistakes.Finally work hard and stay motivated.This will definitely help you to get a good rank.
