Yes, a B.Com graduate with a 2-year A.T.D. (Art Teacher Diploma) can apply for the CTET exam , provided the diploma is recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) or the respective state education board.

For the Primary Stage (Class I–V) , CTET eligibility requires either:

  • Graduation in any stream with a minimum of 50% marks , along with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education / D.Ed / BTC , or

  • Senior Secondary (12th) with 50% marks and a recognized 2-year diploma in elementary education.

Since you have 60.08% in B.Com and a 2-year A.T.D. , you meet the academic requirement and can appear for CTET, especially for Art / Drawing teaching subjects .

Note: Always ensure your diploma is recognized , and keep your certificates ready for verification during admission or appointment.

Yes, you can apply for CTET but it depends on which paper you are targeting. For Paper I (Classes 1–5) , the minimum requirement is a senior secondary (12th) with 50% marks + 2-year D.El.Ed / Diploma in Education . For Paper II (Classes 6–8) , you need a graduation + 2-year D.El.Ed or graduation with 50% marks + B.Ed . Since you are a B.Com graduate (60.08%) and hold a 2-year Art Teacher Diploma (ATD) , the issue is that ATD is not officially treated as equivalent to D.El.Ed or B.Ed by CBSE/NCERT in CTET eligibility notifications.

So, while your graduation percentage qualifies you academically, without a recognized teacher training qualification (D.El.Ed/B.Ed) , you may not be considered fully eligible. If your ATD has state recognition as a teacher training diploma, you should confirm from CBSE’s official CTET eligibility list or your state education board.
In short: B.Com + ATD alone may not fulfill CTET norms , unless ATD is recognized as equivalent to D.El.Ed in your state. To be fully eligible, pursuing a B.Ed would make you 100% qualified for CTET Paper II.

Hello dear candidate,

you are not eligible for CTET right now, even though you have good graduating score and an additional diploma in art teaching.

you will need to complete a B.Ed degree for paper 2 or D.El.Ed for paper 1.

your A.T.D can be useful for an art teacher posts.

thank you

Hello,

Yes, you can apply for the CTET exam as a B.Com (//B.Com) student, but you need to fulfilll the technical qualification,, which is likely to be be completing a 2-year diploma course in Elementary Education or a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed). Then you are eligible to apply for the the CTET exam.

I hope it will clear your query!!
