I recommend you to do preparation this year. If you will prepare with all you focus and determination then definitely you can score really good marks in the next year exam. So if you can take a year break, so best is to prepare well and give it another try. You can also give mat exam, it takes place 4 times in a year.  And last option is you can take direct admission too if you don't want to waste your one year.
