Yes, you need to upload the certificate if you want to get reservation quota. If you don't submit, you will be labeled as general cadre.
If you want to compete in general cadre, it's not needed.

If you want to get reservation and scholarship then you will have to show your caste certificate

Start preparing for cat, you will get obc privilege in iims, their cutoff for obc is slighlty lower than general. All the bes.
