With 47.5 marks in CLAT 2026 under General category, chances of admission in top NLUs are very low. However, you may have a chance in lower-ranked or newer NLUs, depending on the cut-off, women reservation, and domicile rules. Final allotment depends on counselling rounds and seat availability.
Thankyou i hope this will resolve some doubt
Good evening, candidate,
It is very unfortunate to inform you that 47.5 marks are challenging for NLU. Though you have a 30% reservation as a woman candidate and a 25% reservation as a domicile of Daman, you can apply and wait for the cutoff of universities.
You can also apply to CLAT-affiliated private colleges.
Thank you.
With a CLAT 2026 score of 47.5 and belonging to the General category with woman quota and Daman & Diu domicile, the chances of getting a top or mid-tier NLU are quite limited. Cut-offs for most National Law Universities usually go much higher, especially for the General category, even after considering women reservation.
However, you may still have a slim possibility in newer or lower-ranked NLUs if they offer state or domicile-related preferences and if seats remain vacant in later counselling rounds. Some NLUs to keep an eye on in the later rounds include the newer National Law Universities where cut-offs tend to go lower compared to older ones. Admission, if any, would most likely happen only in spot rounds or vacancy rounds, and it is not guaranteed.
To improve your chances, you should definitely participate in all counselling rounds, keep checking vacancy notifications, and be flexible with campus preferences. At the same time, it would be wise to explore good private law universities and colleges that accept CLAT scores or conduct their own entrance tests, as they can offer quality education and decent exposure.
If law is your long-term goal, you can also consider taking a partial drop and preparing again for CLAT while studying elsewhere, aiming for a better rank next year. Stay realistic, keep backup options ready, and remain proactive during counselling.
All the best.
