As the competition is increasing every year, it is a little uncertain that the trend will follow in the same line. As of 2016 the closing rank for CSE Vellore ( category 1 )was around 7000 and for chennai was around 12000. Though in the 2nd round of counciling,CSE was available till around 30k but the annual fee was high as they were in category 2,3 whose fee are a little more than 1.

Though it is possible for anyone with a rank around 20k to get CSE in VIT at a decent annual fee, it is highly competitive exam to get a rank below 20k
