96 percentile is the cutoff for IIM Ranchi, Rohtak, Raipur, Trichy, Udaipur, Kashipur and some of the Newest IIMs for general category from last two years. So there is a good chance of a call from these institutes. If you score 96+ percentile chances of calls are there from old IIMs depending on your selection criterion. Other part is your chances of your conversion. It depends on various parameters. Even getting a 100 percentile cannot ensure your selection in any of the IIMs. You need to appear for the WAT and PI process and excel there as well. It also depends on your academics and work experience and there are points for gender and academic diversity. CAT score is about 30-40% of your total score for the final selection. Hence give your best in CAT and then prepare for interviews and ace it. All the best!

Getting 96+ percentile could have opened the door for you to get a call from almost all IIMs but as you have an average academic background so it will hamper your call process from some of the top IIMs.

As you know to call students for interview and WSAT  round prepare a merit list based on your aggregate score which comprises of many factors such as CAT marks, 10th 12th and graduation percentage, work experience, engineer or non engineer, gender with different weightages for different colleges so with your average academic background you might not get a call from IIM A, B and I.

You have a good chance to get a call from IIM C, L, K, S as old IIMs plus through all new IIMs.

Now getting your call converted depends on your performance in interview and WSAT round. As after this round colleges again prepare a fresh merit list including interview and WSAT marks which generally has highest weightage in the aggregate score.

So prepare well and aim for a little more high percentile. Higher the percentile higher will be your probability of getting selected.
