EWS certificate is nothing but it is a reservation based certificate . It gives 10% reservation for economically weaker section people. But coming to income it is mandatory for colleges to get scholarship .  For every section  of people they have limits . Based on income certificate students will get scholarship . So in my view income is needed for students and that income certificate will have his father name and his son/daughter name

EWS means Economically Weaker Section is a category under General Category where the condition is as follows: The annual income of the family should be less than Rs8 lacs  , The student should not  belong to any other reserved category like , SC,OBC or ST.

So YES you will require income certificate as a proof that your family does not earn not more than 8 lacs per year. The income certificate will be in the name of your father /mother. Its as per your wish , It will be on their name because you are not earning person.

So apply for a income Certificate at the earliest,
