With 50 percentile in the MHT-CET exam, admission to Computer Science Engineering in top or mid-tier government and private colleges is unlikely, especially under the general category. CSE is one of the most competitive branches, and the cutoffs for it usually fall much higher, often above the 85th percentile even in less competitive colleges.

However, you still have options. Some private colleges in Maharashtra accept students with lower percentiles, particularly in the later CAP rounds or through institute-level quota. These colleges may have management seats or unfilled seats in emerging CSE-related branches like Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or IT. Your chances will improve if you are open to considering these specializations and if you closely follow the counselling rounds.

To improve your chances, participate in every round of MHT CET CAP counselling, including the institute-level and spot rounds. Fill in a large number of college options and be flexible with location and branch alternatives. While admission into core CSE at reputed colleges may not be possible, you can still get into a private institute that offers good teaching and placement support if you’re willing to put in consistent effort during your degree.

All the best!

With 50 percentile in the MHT-CET exam, your approximate rank would fall around 60,000 to 70,000 or lower, depending on the overall exam statistics for the year. Admission to top government engineering colleges in Maharashtra for Computer Science Engineering is unlikely at this score, especially under the general category. These colleges usually close their CSE seats at much higher percentiles and lower ranks. However, you still have a chance in private or self-financed colleges, particularly those located in Pune, Navi Mumbai, or rural districts, where cutoffs tend to be more flexible.

Some of these colleges may offer you admission during the later CAP rounds or under the institute-level or management quota. Your chances increase if you're open to choosing a CSE-related specialization like AI-ML, Data Science, or IT instead of core CSE, since those sometimes have slightly lower cutoffs.

You should also participate in all rounds of centralized admission, including spot rounds, and consider filling the option forms very carefully with a large number of choices in descending order of preference.

If you are from a reserved category or home university region, your chances may improve significantly.

Hope this helps!
