Congratulations on your admission. EIE is a combination of both Electronics and Instrumentation subjects and hence it would be up to you to choose one of these branches when you appear for GATE. It is your GATE score that determines your PSU selection and if you have a good score they are unlikely to discriminate. 

Work hard for GATE if you aim for PSUs. You should have a rank below 500.
