No, you cannot pursue Psychiatry directly without an MBBS degree in India.

  • MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery): This is a four-year undergraduate medical degree program. It's the foundation for all medical specializations, including psychiatry.

  • MD (Doctor of Medicine) in Psychiatry: After MBBS, you need to pursue a postgraduate MD program specializing in Psychiatry. This typically takes three years.

  • Psychiatrist (MBBS + MD): This route takes a minimum of 7 years (4 years MBBS + 3 years MD).0

  • Clinical Psychologist (B.Sc. + M.Sc.): This path takes a minimum of 5 years (3 years B.Sc. + 2 years M.Sc.).
