Can I do opthamalogy course without doing MBBS??
Hello ayisha,
Sorry, but you cannot do opthalmology without doing MBBS. However if you like this branch you can go for the paramedical side and go for B.Sc optometry. It is a health care profession that involves examining the eyes for defects and abnormalities. Several reputed government institutes offer this course like AIIMS, JIPMER etc.
All students who have passed 10+2 or equivalent exams from central/state board with physics, chemistry and biology as core subjects are eligible for this course. Students belonging to the UR category should obtain a minimum of 55% aggregate while for the reserved category student, minimum aggregate should be 550%. Admissions are purely merit based and Exam syllabus is the same as NEET.
Entrance exam for AIIMS paramedical courses will be held on 15th June 2019, but the basic registration is closed now. However for JIPMER the registration will start from 18th April 2019 and the exam will be conducted on 23rd June 2019, in various centres across India.
Hope this information was helpful.
All the best!
