Ocean Enginnering Naval Architecture at IIT Kharagpur is another good choice if you are interested in making a career in ship designing and manufacturing, Marine engineering . Ocean Engineering is more mathematical based and If you like mathematics this is one of the best innovative choices.

mining branch is definitely better than 5 year course in ocean engineering.

I suggest you to go through the syllabus of both to get an insight of your inclination.

If you get 4 year mining then it is definitely a better choice.moreover the exposure you will get at iit kharagpur will be incomparable to lower iits.

IIT Kharagpur's Mining Engineering branch is far better than its integrated Ocean Engineering branch. The overall scenario of the chosen one is quite good. Also, you can pursue your higher studies, if interested, in your desired branch and not specifically Mining Engineering. IIT Kharagpur's Mining Engineering branch has quite decent placements over past few years as well. So it would be wise to choose this branch over integrated Ocean Engineering branch. Good luck.
