mining branch is definitely better than 5 year course in ocean engineering.

I suggest you to go through the syllabus of both to get an insight of your inclination.

If you get 4 year mining then it is definitely a better choice.moreover the exposure you will get at iit kharagpur will be incomparable to lower iits.

IIT Kharagpur's Mining Engineering branch is far better than its integrated Ocean Engineering branch. The overall scenario of the chosen one is quite good. Also, you can pursue your higher studies, if interested, in your desired branch and not specifically Mining Engineering.
