Category rank is considered for admission in to NITs/IIITs/GFTIs through JoSAA counselling. Admission through JAC counselling will be based on Common Rank List (CRL) secured in JEE Main. If you are applying for admission through JAC counselling then your CRL rank will be considered but your seat allotment will be make under the category you belong to if you belong to reserved category. A separate merit list is prepared for candidates applying for JAC counselling.
