People do M.tech mostly for research purposes. In NIT Patna, there is very little placements for M.tech students and thank also for CSE branch. For other branches, students mostly go for PhD. Also they get no placements. Some companies prefer students with masters degree, so only CSE students become eligible for placements. So if you want to be placed in a company with a decent package after your mtech then NIT Patna is not the right place for you. And also you have mentioned that you are not from that college, so I would suggest you to go for some other choices if you have any or you can prepare well again for GATE exam and appear again in the next year and get a better rank.
