Is domicile necessary for taking admission in govt. College of kolkata like maulana abul kalaam institute of technology?

Yes, if you are taking admission into any engineering college which comes under state government authority like those whose entrance exams is conducted by state government then it is mandatory to give domicile of that particular state but if you have completed your higher secondary from the same state, where the college is situated then it is not compulsory to produce a domicile for it.

Just to make it clear, in some states the state of your 10th 12th passing is considered home state irrespective of the domicile.
Say Chattisgarh, I could have applied as a home state candidate without my domicile because I studied 12th standard from here.

Dear Shreyskar,

In order to take admission in WBJEE colleges you only need a domicile certificate for Government Engineering & Technology Colleges.

You don't require to show the domicile certificate in order to take admission in State-Aided Universities offering Engineering/ Technology and Self-Financing Institutions offering Engineering/ Technology
