IEM Kolkata is affiliated with the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (previously known as West Bengal University of Technology). The institute received an A grade from NAAC with a score of 3.25. Every year, IEM students excel in the MAKAUT semester exams, and a few are named university toppers. All relevant departments (CSE, IT, and ECE) are NBA recognised and ranked 101st in India by NIRF (2019). Approximately all engineering and management students are placed. Many of them get many employment offers.
