Hello Sugandh Rajput

Hope you are doing well in this ongoing pandemic scenario.

Coming to your question; No, JEE is  not necessary for taking admission for BTech in Food technology.

But I will suggest you to give entrance exam if you want to pursue from a good college.

Many government colleges take admission to BTech food technology course through entrance exams.

Top IIT's and NIIT's take admission through JEE EXAM.

Many private colleges prefer to take admission through direct admission too.

Hope this helps you

Hello Sugandh,

I understand your concern regarding your interest in the field of food technology. The field is ever-growing since it was begun and no doubt it will be in existence till humanity.  So good choice for that!

Coming back to your question. For this 4-year undergraduate program,  the basic eligibility criteria are that you must have passed 12th with PCM/PCB from a recognized Board. Today a lot of colleges have opened in our country with a rising literacy rate and awareness regarding the importance of education. Keeping in mind not all colleges guarantee placement because of their poor education standards and techniques to run an education business.

Most of the top colleges like NIT-Rourkela, IIT-Kharagpur, and NIIT University-Neemrana do take entrance exams like JEE/BITSAT. The reason being these are the top colleges where lots of admissions happen every year because of their proven record and standards.

Though for some reason, if you chose to opt-out of the entrance exam there are other universities like LPU-Jalandhar, Parul University -Vadodara, and many more where you can take direct admission based on the availability of the seat.

If you are really interested in the field then it doesn't matter in which college you are, as long as you are giving your 100% and keeping in your mind that these 4 years will be the pillars of the rest of your life. So take the decision wisely.

Long answer short. Yes, you can take admission without entrance exam in some colleges but if you want good college you have to give entrance to prove yourself by getting a rank.

Best wishes!

If you have state engineering colleges that offers the BTech Food Technology course then obviously you can seat for the state engineering entrance to take admission in such course. Also some institutes accept both the JEE MAINS and State engineering entrance examinations. As you haven't mentioned your state, I can't provide you the exact info about the state entrance exam.

I hope my answer helps. All the very best for your future endeavors!
