Allotment is completely based on general rank. This community rank is useful while choice filling and for reservation purpose. These community rank will help you in getting some good college, that is you have certain reservation for each and every category.

TNEA allotment is done on the basis of either general rank or community rank too.If you have a good general rank you can get admission based on that but if you have a good community rank that will also be considered in getting admission.

There are certain percentages of seats that are reserved for Open competition (OC),Backward class (BC),Backward class Muslim (BCM),Most backward class and Denotified communities (MBC & DNC),Scheduled caste (SC),Scheduled caste Arunthathiyars (SCA),Scheduled Tribes (ST)

There is also special reser vation of seats on basis of Children of Ex-servicemen ,freedom fighters,Orthopaedically Differently abled person ,Visually Impaired,Hearing Impaired,Sports Person.
