There is nothing like a certain amount of marks. You need to do your best.

Admission to courses is based on rank not on marks. If you have a better rank, you get a chance to get into a better course. As simple as that.

The rank wise cut off for different branches of B.Tech at UPES are:-APE-UP:3500APE-Gas:6000Chemical:7500Geoinformatics:10000Geoscience:12000Fire and Safety:18000Aerospace:10000Mechanical and Civil:15000Material Science:18000CSE under different specializations: they can range from 2000-20000. The best CSE branches are CCVT, CSE-OSS and CSE-mainframe. These branches are likely to finish upto 10000 rank.I would not advice UPES for CSE. Petroleum branches are the cream of the college.These ranks are solely on the basis of the trends I have observed in the past two years and not the official cut off ranks.All the best.
