Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology was founded in 2000 and funded initially by the Government of West Bengal, MAKAUT, WB provides facilities for the pursuit of degree and advanced-level courses in engineering, management and other professional areas through affiliated institutions and in-house departments. As of October 2017, it has 194 affiliated colleges with jurisdiction over the entire state of West Bengal. The main campus is situated at BF-142, Salt Lake and it has campuses for different branches. The University is soon going to have its permanent residence in Haringhata, West Bengal. MAKAUT, WB is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
