Hello Satheesh,

The NEET cut off varies from year to year, state to state and as well as college to college. It also depends on the Quota you are applying through as well as the Category of Admission. Government and Private Colleges have cut-offs of their own.

Assuming you are applying through the 15% All India Quota under General Category for a Government Medical College, the cut-off for NEET 2017 was Rank 5922 which corresponds to a score of approximately 500 marks out of 720.

However, this year, we are expecting a rise in cut offs. Therefore, with 454 marks in NEET, it will be difficult to get a seat in a government college through All India Quota. This year, the expected cut off will be approximately 520+ for OBC category. Your brother will have better chances in private colleges but the fees are comparatively higher. Please remember, this is not the absolute dictum. Ultimately, it will depend on the percentile he scores. All the very best!
