Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) is a private engineering institute located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It was established in 1949 by C. Rajam. The institute is one of the 4 constituents of Anna University but in the year 1978, it was merged in Anna University. It is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

Madras Institute of Technology offers study in undergraduate, postgraduate and research courses in multiple disciplines. It is the 1st institute in India to offer postgraduate (PG) courses in mechatronics and avionics. MIT has received many awards which comprise an award by Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE) and an award for the Best Overall Performance in 1999.

This college accepts admission only through the valid scores of TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions) which is a state level counselling conducted by Anna University for  B.E./B.Tech admissions in Tamil Nadu colleges based on class 12 th merti list. TNEA Rank List 2019 will be declared on June 28, 2019.

Previous year in Computer Science branch ranks ranging 206 to 373 for General category were only accepted to take admission.
