I suggest you based on my experience if you are doing B-tech in Vit types collage in chennai then you go for srm according to placement compared with vit for direct admission in Srm contact US.

It's hard to say now because time has gone in which you have to apply for their entrance examination because most of the universities will close their entrance examination window before starting of the board examination. So don't worry go with your JEE mains rank if you have given the exam otherwise apply directly to the private colleges they will intake you on your Board percentage basis and some will ask for donation too for direct entry.
