The medical education department has announced six new medical colleges in the state among other new infrastructure as part of its proposal to the state government. The government also planned to set up four geriatric centres at Bangalore Medical College, Mysore Medical College, Vijayanagar Medical College, and the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (Hubballi).

According to a recent report, Karnataka to get 6 new medical colleges with 900 MBBS seats by 2020-21

The new six medical colleges will come up in Chikkamagalur, Chikkaballapur, Chitradurga, Haveri, Yadgir and Bagalkote.
