CMR or Common Merit Rank is your rank in Common Rank List. This list consists of all category students. And General rank is your category rank. Now you belong to general category. If someone belongs to SC category then his/her category rank would be SC rank. Both the ranks are equally important. Based on your rank and previous year's data, you can expect NIFT Patna, Bhubaneswar, Kangra. However, the cutoffs change every year and this is based on previous years' analysis.
