see there is no lateral entry option for mbbs course, to  get admission in any medical colleges of india you need to clear neet ug exam, as neet ug has no upper age limit, you friend can surely apply for it if he qualify the qualifying exam score, for general category students , the candidate need to score 50% marks in pcb in 10+2 course, for sc/st/obc it is 40%.
