The EWS category is valid for just one economic year. If your class 12th result lists your category as General but in JEE Mains you have mentioned  EWS, don't worry because the EWS certificate is valid for one year. They will ask you to upload your EWS certificate during your counseling for JOSAA and CSAB.

Regarding the top 20 percentile cutoff for class 12th, it will be calculated based on the general marks obtained by the students in the class 12th board exam.
