Let me tell you what my friend had to say about HBTU Kanpur since he is from that college only. The closing rank for Computer Science Engineering was 32k in 2018 so by this data we can observe that it is comparatively easier to get admission in this college. But I must warn you that the infrastructure is old and you may not benefit from the placement scenario here. Students need to give extreme efforts to get internships elsewhere as training and placement cell doesnt provide internships. Placement scenario is also not so good in the college. However, you are advised to see what fits perfectly for yourself and then decide! Good luck!
