If we compare both the institutions on the basis of placements, I would totally advise  you to select vit vellore over thapar university. cse and ece branch at vit vellore has the best placement record. the top mncs like amazon, tcs, IBM, wipro, microsoft visits the campus. education quality is best , every year a majority of students selects for higher education at abroad and tier 1 institute in India.
