As you have not mentioned the degree name, I'm assuming it as BA degree because BA Honours in English is popular English Honours course and giving details regarding the same here.

In Delhi University the admission into BA English Honours is based on marks obtained in your 10+2 and entrance exam rest result. You have to write DU CATE entrance exam to get BA English Honours seat and even 12 more colleges affiliated to this University gives admissions into BA English Honours based on this entrance exam. Rest of other Colleges gives admissions based on merit obtained in 10+2 exam.
