Dear Mukesh,

To get admission in iist you need to keep in mind the following points:

  • Candidates must clear the JEE Advanced exam.

  • General category candidates must score at least 20% marks in JEE Advanced i.e 72 marks out of 360 and at least 6 marks out of 120 in each of the three subjects

  • OBC-NCL candidates must score at least 65 marks out of 360 marks and 5 marks out of 120 in each of the three subjects

  • SC, ST & PD candidates must score at 10% marks i.e 36 marks out of 360 and 3 marks out of 120 in each of the three subjects.

The number of seats reserved for different categories is:

  • Scheduled Caste (SC): 15%

  • Scheduled Tribes (ST): 7.5%

  • Persons with Disabilities (PD): 5% (Horizontal Reservation

  • Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to Non-Creamy Layer (NCL): 27%

So basically I would say your rank must be below 8000 if you are a general category student.

Hope this helps!

All the best!

Iist eligibility changes every year as it become popular .

So for be in save zone you should try rank below 8k (General) in 2019 .

If you want to go iist in 2020 then your rank should below 5k .

And remember the eligibility .
