Both the USMLE Step 1 and USMLE Step 2 have the same exam format and question types. Step 1 is of shorter duration and completed one hour earlier than Step 2. However, students can find Step 1 challenging as it covers a wide range of concepts and scientific principles whereas Step 2 assesses mostly the clinical knowledge and skills of the candidate.
