IITs and NITs are the premier engineering institutes of India.
They provide many undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
Admissions to B.Tech courses is provided on the basis of JEE Main in NITs and on the basis of JEE Advance in IITs

IITs offer better infrastructure, placements, facilities to the students. Old IITs such as IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkie, IIT Madras are top engineering colleges of the country.
NIT Rourkela, NIT Trichy, NIT Warangal are also ranked high.

However generally IITs provide better opportunities and facilities for engineering students.
