GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test)  is a computer-adaptive test which assesses a person’s analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal and reading skills in standard written English. 

There is no specific date. Exams are conducted almost every day depending on the availibility of test centers and timings. You need to visit the  official GMAT website and choose a test center convenient to you and check out the dates available there.

No, you cannot write the exam second time by paying the application fee only once. Everytime you register for the exam you have to pay the full application fee again. 

The application fee for GMAT 2018 is $250, which would roughly translate to Rs 15,000-16,000 approximately. Also, if the applicants want to change the center or reschedule the test then they will be charged $50 extra

Yes. If you are an applicant with good profile i.e. you have good work experience apart from having decent academic scores , you should give it a try. GMAT score is generally used by experienced candidates who have more than 5 years of experience. Freshers/Students with comparaively lesser experience generally give CAT for applying to IIM's.

Test takers may register for the GMAT either online at mba.com or by calling one of the test centers. To schedule an exam, an appointment must be made at one of the designated test centers. The GMAT may not be taken more than once within 16 days but no more than five times in a rolling 12-month period and no more than eight times total, even if the scores are canceled. Official GMAT exam study materials are available on the mba.com online store and through third-party vendors. You need to pay fees everytime you want to write the exam.
