In India the scope for Biotechnology is better than Genetics as there is a highly developed and advanced technology are used for genetics which in India only few places can have that.
But Biotechnology is very scopeful in India .

Genetics is a part of Biotechnology & absolutely a core specialisation, while biotechnology have a combination of various subjects. So if you have chosen core Research as your goal then Genetics is ok.
But if you go for Biotechnology, you will have already options to choose various trending, research or job oriented fields in Masters. So i think B.Sc. or B.Tech in Biotechnology is better.
