In my opinion VIT has the better ranking in NIRF 15and has great infrastructure, academics  and Placements too. You need to qualify 12 CBSE, STATE or Board to apply for VITEEE entrance examination.Your JEE score also play a good role in this university.

In UPES if you are will to choose petrol engineering there are wonderful opportunities from the placement sides but NIRF ranking is 66. For this university you only need 50%aggregate in Physics , chemistry and Mathematics.

Both of them are private university.
