It depends on the NIT.If you are getting civil in top 5 NITs then go for that.After that you will get a chance to upgrade your branch also .More over ,NITs like NITK,NITW,NITT etc. have very well coding environment.You can learn coding  from any branch in these colleges.Otherwise you can go for SSN comparing placements ,environment etc.
