Hello,
Both institutes are very much different from each other.
National Institute of Design is a Design institute offering B.Des and M.Des course.
National Institute of Fashion Technology is a fashion design and Management Institute offering B.Des, BF Tech, M.Des, MFTech courses.
NID specialises the student in design only shile NIFT is mostly dedicated to fashion world. NID has limited number of seats while number of seats in NIFT is large as it has 15 campuses across India.

So, which one is 'best' comes down to your liking and preferences. If you aim to make a career in design go for NID. Or if fashion is your thing go for NIFT.
